Did you know that you can improve the inbox delivery rate of your email campaigns by authenticating the sending domain through DNS? Today, we present DMARC, the new feature available in the NewsMAN platform, designed to enhance the security and deliverability of emails and strengthen your brand image in front of subscribers.

In this article, you’ll learn what DMARC authentication is in email marketing, how it helps you, and how you can implement it.

What DMARC authentication is in email marketing?

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) is a protocol through which emails are authenticated at the domain level, ensuring their security and integrity. It does not act alone but relies on other protocols such as DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) and SPF (Sender Policy Framework) to confirm the legitimacy of emails.

Through DKIM, each email receives a unique digital signature, while SPF allows domains to specify authorized email servers. DMARC integrates these protocols to verify the source and authenticity of each message. By analyzing DKIM signatures and checking the SPF list, DMARC confirms the origin and validity of messages, ensuring they have not been altered or forged.

Why implement DMARC for the email campaign sending domain?

Implementing DMARC for your email campaign sending domain is essential for several reasons:

1. It increases the email delivery rate to the inbox

DMARC increases the chances of your emails being delivered directly to the recipients’ inboxes. This minimizes the risk of them being identified as spam or being blocked by email client security filters.

2. It protects against phishing and spoofing.

DMARC acts as a robust digital protection mechanism, strictly validating the authenticity of electronic messages. Through this rigorous validation, DMARC prevents and discourages phishing attacks and attempts to falsify your brand’s identity.

3. Enforces Rules for Senders:

This security standard provides the ability to establish specific rules for authenticating and sending emails on behalf of your brand. Consequently, the email servers of recipients receive clear instructions to identify legitimate messages.

4. Maintains Brand Integrity and Reputation:

DMARC protects the reputation and integrity of your brand by preventing the misuse of your company’s name in phishing or spam activities. It helps maintain an authentic and trustworthy image in the eyes of your customers and business partners.

5. Complies with Mandatory Email Delivery Standards

Starting from February 2024, Google and Yahoo are enforcing new standards for email authentication, including the mandatory implementation of DMARC, DKIM, and SPF. Using these protocols for the newsletter sending domain becomes imperative to avoid any issues related to email delivery and to comply with the requirements set by these platforms.

Activating DMARC authentication for the newsletter sending domain can be done quickly from your NewsMAN account. Here’s a step-by-step guide: Log in and click on the profile icon (My Account) in the top right corner. Then, select the “Sending domains” page.
